Bredesen Addresses Housing Summit

Governor Phil Bredesen today spoke to members of Tennessee's housing community at the Governor's Housing Summit in Nashville, offering updates on his efforts to promote affordable housing statewide, including:

- A recent tax incentive encouraging financial institutions to invest in affordable housing initiatives
- Twelve new construction projects to build residential facilities for disabled Tennesseans
- The state's BUILD program, which provides flexible financing options for nonprofit organizations that lead affordable housing projects

"The bottom line is: Affordable housing is essential to the future economic growth and stability of our cities, our counties and our State," Bredesen said. "We're going to make sure that we're doing everything possible to encourage its development."
